Nursery Rhyme Day 12.11.25

Today we had a wonderful time introducing our new enquiry for this half term with our 'Nursery Rhyme Day'; filled with singing, laughter, and lots of hands-on fun!

We started the day with “Jelly on a Plate”, holding real plates of wibbly, wobbly jelly. The children loved watching it jiggle and shake as they sang along, and they carefully balanced it on spoons to make it “wibble” and “wobble” even more!

Next, we sang “Incy Wincy Spider” while holding our own little spiders. As we sang about the rain, we felt a gentle water spray, and when the sun came out, we felt the warm breeze from a hairdryer! The children were fully immersed in the song, giggling as their spiders climbed up and down the spout. We even made our own Incy Wincy spiders to take home and share with our families.

To finish our special day, we created our own twinkly, sparkly stars on sticks using glitter, foil, and sequins. We then sang “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star” under a dark table lit with fairy lights. It was magical watching the children’s stars shimmer and twinkle in the dark as they sang softly together.

Throughout the day, we sang lots of other favourite nursery rhymes, filling our classroom with music, movement, and joy. It was a wonderful day of learning through play — full of imagination, creativity, and sensory fun!

A positive, purposeful and enthusiastic atmosphere
