Send My Friend to School
Mon 18 May 2015We are supporting the Send My Friend to School campaign. 2015 is a significant year because world leaders said that all children would be in school by this year but still 58 million are not. In September the leaders of the world are meeting together and they will discuss this issue. We have all written letters to David Cameron and suggested things that we would do to help get all children to school. In June Daniel and Honor will go to London's houses of Parliament to give them our letters with the other DASP schools.
Today we received the DASP box from Piddlevalley First school which contains all of the letters to David Cameron and the MP's and added ours. Tomorrow we will take the box to Charminster First school.
We also sang Be Bold Be strong as part of the ceremony. Go to your child's Class page to listen to song.

MayFair 2015
Sat 16 May 2015WE DESPERATELY NEED HELPERS FOR THE MAYFAIR WHICH IS OUR MAJOR SCHOOL FUNDRAISER. We rely on the FOCAS funds to enhance your children’s learning in school and to this end we rely heavily on the generosity of parents and the community to help make this a very successful fundraiser. So we are asking for your support in contributing goodies for the stalls, selling raffle tickets and donating prizes in exchange for a Crazy Hair day and ‘Dress as your Hero’ or ‘Dress Down’ day for the tombola stalls.
Our grateful thanks go to Katy Wall and Janine Ryan for organising the whole event .
To reduce production costs Rachel Guest has designed personal raffle tickets at £1 each – These will be sent out next week we would be grateful if you could sell as many as possible.
We desperately need parents to help run the stalls, and parents to organise the teas and cakes.
We are having the following stalls
Bric a Brac
Adult tombola
Chocolate tombola
Toy stall
Plants
Books / CD’s etc
Raffle
Cakes and or savouries
School uniform seconds / as new
Hair braiding
Etc etc
Please do bring in any donations for these stalls and ask neighbours etc.
Please can we ask for helpers
- to help collect and set up tables and chairs from the vicarage,
- to help erect the gazebos – easy assemble ones this year
- to run stalls.
Please pop in and see Alex if you are happy to help
We are having a ‘Dress as your Hero’ day on Friday 1st May in exchange for Adult tombola - bottles, jars, tins, smellies, candles etc, and then a WACKY HAIR DAY on Friday 8th May in exchange for chocolate for the chocolate tombola.
We would also be very grateful if every child could fill a jar or two or three! for the school Jar Stall. You can fill them with anything you like from candles, soaps, marbles, sweets and decorate them with ribbons etc.
PLANTS FOR MAYFAIR
Calling all gardeners – if you are dividing up perennial plans in your garden please pot up any you don’t need for May Fair. Many thanks.

DASP Computing Kidsmeet
Thu 30 Apr 2015DASP Computing Kidsmeet
Today 4 children from Abbey Class, as well as Mrs Horwood and Miss Cook, went to St. Osmund's Middle School to meet other pupils from other DASP schools and to share what they have been learning in Computing. We shared our learning about programming on 'Scratch'. We also saw other children's learning which we found really exciting. Our favourite things we saw were:
- A 3D Printer
- Kodu Coding
- Dash and Dot Robots
- Robot Tanks
- A Blue Screen APP
- Lego WeGo!
- Hopscotch
We had a marvellous day filled with fun, learning and play!
Vaila, Tom, Jack and Ellie
Miss Cook and Mrs Horwood were very proud of the children from Cerne Abbas School as they were all of our values, especially courteous and confident.
