Rockley Watersports Festival
Mon 04 Jul 2016Today Aran, Clayton and Owen took part in some water sports, they were all extremely nervous on our route to Poole Park, when we arrived they changed into wetsuits and buoyancy aids before they were given t-shirts in their colour. Split into 2's Aran and Owen took to the water first after some quick handling skills in their Kayak, they made their way around the lake and came off saying they had loved it!! Clayton then had a go and was accompanied by one of the instructors who labelled him "Paddle Prince", he made his way confidently around the lake aiding in helping everyone when they were stuck. They then all played some land based games before lunch. After lunch they all set sail in their boat for a leisurely cruise further afield, they came back with smiles on their faces ready for the competitions to start. There were 4 races in all, Aran and Owen took part in the 3rd and set off at great pace paddling around the island and came 2nd, lastly Clayton chose Owen to partner him in the last race and they came 4th, fantastic. They then received their medals and certificates and feeling exhausted but exhilarated we headed back to school.
All 3 showed great confidence, was communicative and were very cooperative throughout the day, they made Miss Nottley feel very proud and were a huge credit to our School.

Send My Friend to School Campaign
Fri 01 Jul 2016Send My Friend to School Campaign
Today the School Council went on a trip to St. Mary's School in Puddletown where they went to a conference with Oliver Letwin MP and the other DASP schools. They went to deliver their 'rucksacks' which they made as part of the world wide Send My Friend to School campaign which aims to get children all over the world in education. The rucksacks were made from paper and were decorated and written on by each child in our school. They wrote why and how they thought the government could help to get every child into school. Cerne Abbas school had some great ideas and so hopefully the MPs will all take notice of what they have to say! Not only did we deliver the rucksacks but Clayton and Oliver did a fantastic speech to all the people there, including Oliver Letwin, saying why they think it is important that all children go to school. Clayton also asked Mr Letwin a great question. The boys were so confident and the whole of the School Council were all of our values. They were a pleasure to take to this event, which really was a wonderful DASP community event. It was lovely to see some past pupils there too.

Heart Response
Tue 28 Jun 2016Heart Response
On Monday afternoon we had a visit from Tish, the lady who volunteers for the charity Heart Response. She came in to show us some photos of the children receiving our box of clothes and toys in Romania, after her visit to give them the box in February. A huge thank you again goes to everyone who donated either clothes, toys or money when we fundraised for the charity at the start of the year. It was wonderful to watch our children's faces as they saw the photos of the children receiving the items they had donated, it was clear to see that they felt very proud of themselves for doing such a kind and generous thing.
