  • School Council members

    Fri 25 Sep 2015

We welcome Oliver, Clayton, Freya, Jessica, Leo, Isaac, Lucy and Martha to Cerne Abbas School Council 2015 – 2016.  They had their first meeting this week and they voted for the Chair and Vice Chair, we also discussed how they would like Cerne Abbas School to help people at Harvest time – they decided that we would have a collection for the Dorchester Food Bank.  We will therefore have a collection for this at our Harvest Festival Service on 6th Oct.

  • Macmillian Day

    Fri 25 Sep 2015

Our school is a team and by getting together as a school we can make a difference to the lives of a lot of people.  One of the charities the school raises money for is Macmillan Cancer Support.  Katy Wall is organising for us all to get together for the World’s Biggest Cake Day on this day.

The children can wear casual clothes that day in return for a donation of £1 (but really any donation big or small will be welcome.

The Yummy cake sale will start at 3 pm for the BUS CHILDREN ONLY so that they can buy their cakes and still catch the buses on time.

All other children will be taken out on the playground to meet parents who can then accompany them to the cake sale from 3.15 pm.

So please bake away and drop your cakes off on either the Thursday afternoon or Friday morning. Everyone is invited from school and community to come to the Cake Sale – tea and coffee will be available (20 p) and even a few games for the children will be available.

Last year we raised a little over £250 and the money we raised went to help families affected by cancer.  If you are willing to help serve teas and coffees or cakes please see Katy or let the school office know.

  • Before School Club

    Thu 03 Sep 2015

At our governors meeting on Monday evening it was agreed that we would start a before school club in September.  At the moment it will not include breakfast.  The session will start at 8.00 am and finish at the start of the school day at 8.40 am.

It will cost £3 a session.  Miss Nottley (one of our TA’s) will be running the sessions.

If you would like to sign your children up – please could you fill in the Booking Form available from the office and return to Andrea Schafer in the School Office by Thursday 16th July at the very latest.

We plan to send out booking forms every half term.  The club will be available from the first day of term – Thursday 3rd September.

We hope that you will consider this option for your child and thank you very much for your support with this venture.

A positive, purposeful and enthusiastic atmosphere
