First week back 5.09.14

 Hello,

I hope you have all had a fantastic summer and the first week has not been too much of a shock to the system.

This week we have been off timetable, getting to know each other and the expectations of being year 3 and 4!
The children have spent some time looking through all the books in the school and choosing books that they would really like to read. This year we plan to spend more time reading in school during guided reading sessions. We have started this process by thinking about how we can successfully read to ourselves and read to someone else.
We got to know our learning buddies for this half term but learning with them, and measuring each other. We will revisit our measurements at the end of the year and see how much we have grown!
We have also looked at the artist Picasso, and then created our own Picasso style self-portraits using mixed media. Please come and see them hanging in our classroom.

To end the week we learnt about structures…..and being co-operative learners by making tall structures out of marshmallows and spaghetti! Some of our structures were successful, but we all learnt a lot about the materials we were using and learning with others.
I look forward to our learning next week and starting our topic.

Mrs Mattison

A positive, purposeful and enthusiastic atmosphere
