Science at DMS, 11.12.13

Christmas is nearly upon us, can you believe? We have been practising hard for the nativity which we will WOW you all with next week.

On Tuesday, the children went to Dorchester Middle School for a science day. We did our learning in the  science labs and got to use lots of scientific equipment. The children really impressed myself, and Mr Lane (head of science at DMS) with their enquiry skills.
We set Abbey class a problem, how to get drinking water from sea water? They had lots of fantastic ideas, and applied all their knowledge of the water cycle to explain why they thought their ideas would work, using the correct scientific terminology.
In the afternoon the children were co-operative learners, as they made ice cream together, and we all enjoyed eating it. Can they explain to you how they made it?

A positive, purposeful and enthusiastic atmosphere
