Magical Mini Beasts - 24.04.14

Welcome back to school, I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter.

We had a fantastic day back at school as we had our forest school day to capture the children’s interest in mini beasts – our topic for this half term. We started the day with a story and hot chocolate around the forest fire. Giant Class then sequenced the story themselves before going on a big bug hunt! They found lots of different mini beasts and were all excited to learn more about them! During the afternoon we made spiders with wood we had cut ourselves with a saw, mini beasts out of clay and other ‘natural treasures’, made a mini beast home, played some games and did some colouring! It was a very fun and busy day and Giant Class were all confident, caring and co-operative caterpillars throughout the day.
In Literacy this week, Giant Class have written some lovely writing to me what their favourite part of the day was at forest school and have also written a question to find out during their topic on mini beasts.

In Maths this week we have been learning how to order our numbers, how to count in 1s and 2s and we even found 1 more/less on a 100 square!
