Measuring and story telling 28.11.13

We have had lots of fun and excitement with measuring in our Maths lessons this week. The children have taken their learning around the school, making estimates and checking measurements of a variety of objects and areas. Next week we will move on to applying our knowledge in some problem solving activities.
Continuing our learning about maps and routes around Cerne Abbas, we have used the photos that we took during our walk around the village to create our own pictorial maps. The next stage will be to use these maps to plan a route for visitors to follow, showing them all of the special features and places of interest.
Another major feature of the week has been our story writing activities in Literacy. We created alien characters linked to the story of 'The Man on the Moon' and then plannned them into our new stories about 'Bob and the Aliens'. It was wonderful to see so much creativity and conscientious learning. We will continue writing our stories next week and then share and assess them with a Learning Partner.

A positive, purposeful and enthusiastic atmosphere
