Cooking and Christmas 19.12.13

What a busy and action-packed final week! We have spent the time rounding off our learning about Journeys and Space by making 'moon rocks' (rock cakes). During our planning session, the children checked which ingredients they would need and they decided which option of dried fruit to choose: dates, apricots, sultanas or cranberries. Then they followed the recipe to create their own version of 'moon rocks'. A delicious smell wafted around the school and the end results proved very tasty.
We have also been designing and making Christmas cards. The children have enjoyed using LOTS of glitter and I
think our carpet will still be twinkling well into next year!
Of course, a big highlight of the week has been performing our Christmas Show in the church. The children were such confident performers and proved themselves to be real 'little stars'. Thank you for your support with providing costumes and for making sure that the children appeared ready for our evening performance despite the terrible weather.
Finally, another 'thank you' to everyone who came to our Learning Exposure. The children enjoyed testing your knowledge with their Space quizzes and sharing their other Topic learning. We have already begun to think about our new topic of 'Super Structures', with the children suggesting what they would like to learn about.
All that remains, is for Trendle Class to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy and Peaceful New Year. We look forward to sharing more of our learning with you next term.

A positive, purposeful and enthusiastic atmosphere
