Castles and churches 30.01.14
This week, as a continuation of our Design Technology project, we have begun constructing our Fairytale castles. The children have shown great enthusiasm and imagination, and their models are showing great attention to detail. Next week, they will be applying a variety of different finishing techniques and then evaluating the success of their models.
Thanks to the kind co-operation of Jonathan, the Vicar of St. Mary's Church in Cerne Abbas, who visits Trendle Class every week, we have also had the opportunity to visit a prominent 'super structure' in Cerne Abbas. Jonathan gave the children a Guided tour of the church, introducing them to the layout, and teaching them about the different areas of the church and their significance. During our visit we looked for evidence of Christian symbols, which we had previously discussed in class. We found some of these in one of the stained glass windows, and this will lead us into designing and making some windows of our own next week.
