15.09.16 Topic Capture - River trip

We have had an excellent second week in Abbey Class and we are all getting into the swing of things.

Firstly, I would like to say thank you to all of the parents who came to the meeting on Wednesday. It was great to see everyone and I look forward to building a learning partnership with you all. The home-school link is really important so please feel free to contact me about your child's learning or any queries you might have.

The children have been super busy this week. It has been the first week that we have experienced a full time table as we were getting to know each other, practising the new routines and generally, finding our feet during the first week. In Literacy we have been focussing our attention to nouns, verbs and adjectives. Our Maths learning has been all to do about place value and addition (the week's learning culminating with half the children teaching column addition to the rest). Moreover, PE has started with Football which is very exciting and Topic has concerned looking at the key features of rivers with the highlight being sketching the local River Cerne. Everyone has applied themselves well in all other subjects such as Reading fun, Phonics, French, Science, Grammar, Handwriting, PSHE and not forgetting the children's favourite lesson, Fun on Friday.

I am SUPER impressed with everyone in the class and I hope that the learning continues to progress.

The children will have spellings and their times tables grid stuck in their home learning book so they can revise their spellings (spelling book to go home) and practice their times tables.

I hope you have a great weekend.

Many thanks,

Mr L. Mitchem

A positive, purposeful and enthusiastic atmosphere
