Catching butterflies 19.06.14

This week we have done lots of great learning in Literacy and Maths. In Literacy we have been learning about writing descriptively and using different sentences as we have started to write our own story with a message like the Great Kapok tree; The Astounding Antarctica.

On Tuesday we were lucky enough to go on a butterfly walk with Nigel onto the Cerne Giant Hill. We are very lucky to live so close to such a good habitat for butterflies and we caught many different species, including the very rare Marsh Fritillary. The children were courteous learners, listening to Nigel and following his instructions on how to catch a butterfly, which meant they all got very good at it!!
Some children were really confident, and conquered their fear of heights by climbing to the top of the steep hill…..and back down!

A positive, purposeful and enthusiastic atmosphere
