Little Red Riding Hood

This week we have had a week of learning themed around the story of Little Red Riding Hood. Giant Class love this story and chose it as their focus for the week last Friday. They have been busy in the role play corner re-telling the story by acting it out with their friends. They have been very co-operative taking turns for the different roles. They have been making stick puppets of the different characters from the story and have been writing about the characters too. We have had a very busy week!

In Maths, Giant Class have been learning how to add. They have enjoyed this as we have been adding with cupcakes and cookies (unfortunately not real! Red Riding Hood's treats for Grandma!) and Numicon. Perhaps the children could show you at home?

In Phonics, we have been learning some tricky sounds this week - oi, ear and air. We have been reading and writing lots of words and captions with these sounds in. Giant Class have been very confident.

Today in our Discovery RE lesson we learnt about Chinese New Year. We learnt about the 12 animals which the years are named after and found out how people celebrate. We have made beautiful paper chain dragons to celebrate too! Tomorrow hopefully we will be trying to eat noodles with chopsticks!

Have a lovely weekend,

Mrs Cain

A positive, purposeful and enthusiastic atmosphere
