Wonderful Welly Walk 27.11.14

Wonderful Welly Walk

We have had a lovely learning week this week. We started our week with a number themed welly walk, we went all around the village hunting for numbers. Our number of the day was 15 so team points were given to children who found that number. We also wanted to find lots of other numbers and found a variety ranging from 1-100! We found numbers on doors, registration plates and on signs. It was wonderful to see the children so excited and confident about numbers - they kept calling out numbers excitedly when they found them. It was a very noisy walk!

Beebots

This week I have introduced the children to Beebots - they are little bees which need programming to move. They help children learn the basic ideas of computer programming. We all created a map of the forest with all the homes of the characters we love in our traditional tales. The children have been trying to get their Beebots to go from one house to the other by programming them. This is not particularly easy but they have kept trying their best!

Storytelling

We have been busy making stick puppets to tell our traditional tales with our puppet theatre, kindly made by Mrs Barrett. We have also been learning how to tell the story of Little Red Riding Hood by using a story map we all made together.

Jigsaw

In Jigsaw learning (our Personal Social Emotional Development scheme) we talked about what makes us all special, the children then made posters of what makes them special which are hanging up in our classroom if you would like to see them.
