Abbotsbury Gardens 3.5.13

This week Trendle Class have been continuing their learning about Global Gardens, particularly focusing on plants. We have been familiarising ourselves with the different parts of a plant, which will lead us into learning about plant life cycles next week.

The highlight of the week has been our visit to Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens where we were able to view exotic plants from all aound the world. We were blessed with fantastic weather which meant we could really make the most of our surroundings. We were also fortunate to have the services of Tim, the Assisstant Head Gardener, who took us on an informative tour through the plant zones of the world.

After lunch there was time for some sketching in the New Zealand and the  Mediterranean zones. Then it was time to say a quick goodbye to the fish and the kookaburras, and wend our way back to school. The day certainly made a wonderful learning experience to capture the children's imaginations and fire their enthusiasm. Mrs Bishop and all of Trendle Class would like to say a big 'thank you' to Mrs Jones, Mrs O'Donnell and Mrs Herbert who gave up their time to help us; we are very appreciative.

A positive, purposeful and enthusiastic atmosphere
