Jack and the Beanstalk! 01.02.17

Jack and the Beanstalk!

Giant Class have had a wonderful week so far learning about the story of Jack and the Beanstalk. We have had some great discussions about Jack's values and whether or not he was being our school values when he stole the Giant's things! They decided he was not being our values and should come to our school to learn to be caring! Mrs Barrett has turned our role play corner into Jack's house and has created a beautiful beanstalk with a Giant at the top! Giant Class have enjoyed using their story language to retell the story by acting it out.

In Maths this week we have enjoyed practising reading numbers, counting and ordering numbers. Today Giant Class particularly enjoyed ordering 'magic beans' with numbers on. All of the class were very conscientious and tried so hard! We were super proud of them today! Lots of my stickers were handed out!

In Phonics this week we have been practising reading and writing our Phase 3 sounds (the sounds we have learnt so far) and have been reading and writing words and sentences including these sounds. We have been enjoying revising our sounds at the start of each lesson by playing 'Musical Sounds.' This has been great fun as we put on a pop tune and dance around the classroom with sounds written on pieces of paper around the classroom. When the music stops Giant Class have to find a sound and then tell me what sound they have landed on! Sometimes they tell me individually and sometimes we all say our sounds at once! The classroom has been very noisy but the children have been very excited and motivated to learn which is what we like! Perhaps you could play this game at home?

Thank you so much for all the 'Family Projects' which have been coming in over the last few days, I look forward to seeing a few more over the next week.

We are looking forward to our dance festival this Friday! I will put some photos up for you to see once we have been. Please do come to our Learning Exposure on Monday at 2.45pm to see the dance for yourselves!
