Super Sealife! 23.01.14

This week in Giant Class we have been very engaged in our topic, we have been making underwater trains and houses with the lego, painting our favourite sea creatures from the Sealife Centre and we have started making our very own information book about creatures which live under the sea!

We are all so pleased to welcome Mrs Herbert into our class, Giant Class have been very caring and co-operative helping Mrs Herbert to settle in and find things. Mrs Herbert will be learning with us every morning and on Thursday afternoons.

In Maths learning this week we have been matching numerals to objects and have been learning this through feeding our penguins the right number of fish. We have also started to learn how to add. In Phonics we have been learning lots of new sounds and playing lots of fun games to help us learn our sounds.
We have all had a very exciting morning as we had a special visit from Sydling Pre-School. Giant Class were such caring caterpillars! We all had a wonderful play together and all got to know each other well.

Last Friday we went on our first Welly Walk. We all had lots of fun looking for signs of winter. We found that there were no leaves on the trees, that the ground was wet because of all the rain and that it was very cold!!! We also found some sticks which looked like letters, lots of big muddy tyre tracks, rain gauges (which Abbey Class had set up for their topic) and even found some worms! We are looking forward to our next Welly Walk tomorrow.

A positive, purposeful and enthusiastic atmosphere
