Shape Fun! 13.11.15

Shape Fun!

This week we have had a very fun week learning Maths with Mrs Elvish. Mrs Elvish has taught us the name of some 2D shapes and how to describe them. We have been looking at shapes, playing shape games, creating pictures with shapes and we even went on a shape hunt around the playground! Giant Class have been courteous and confident learners.

Perhaps you could go on a shape hunt at home and see what shapes you can find? I am sure Giant Class will be very good at telling you all about the shapes too! We have been talking lots about how many corners and sides shapes have.

On Wednesday we learnt about Remembrance Day and went to the war memorial in the village to have our two minutes silence. Giant Class were AMAZING! Two minutes is a long time for a 4/5 year old to be silent for but all of the children were very courteous and respectful and were silent for much longer than two minutes as there was a little confusion over when it began and ended! The Giant Class team were very proud of their Giants! The children were not only brilliant at the war memorial but they were also keen to learn about what the day meant and to discuss why it is important in class.

The children are still enjoying our Julia Donaldson topic and have been having a fun-filled week of 'The Gruffalo.' Giant Class would like to continue learning about The Gruffalo as well as learning about the story 'Tyranosaurus Drip' next week.
