Week 3 - Gymnastics, Shadows and Subtraction

Week 3 :)

In English, we have been working on an explanation text to explain our transportation machine we have designed. As well as this, we have been learning and consolidating our knowledge about subtraction in maths. Through the use of maths resources e.g. cubes and dienes, Sudoku's, problem solving, missing digit calculations and also word problems, we have become very confident and communicative about subtraction! There will be a maths day in the near future with the information for this coming soon. Moreover, we have been carrying on with Gymnastics in PE, which all of the children seem to love. Phonics topic for the week has focused on suffixes and in topic and we have been researching shadows and the effect of the sun towards our shadow. We have been learning a lot more than this in mental maths, science, guided reading and RE. Maybe Abbey class children might be able to explain what else we have been up to at home :)

It is still important for all the children to be practising their times tables and their spellings at home. All learning set is for the benefit of the child. To increase the likelihood of the child enjoying it, try and make it as fun as possible. That way the children will see learning in an enjoyable way.

Just a quick reminder ( I am sure you are all aware anyway) that we have got our school trip to @Bristol next Friday. If we can be at school for 8.30 am or as close to that would be great.

I hope everybody has a fantastic weekend :)

Many thanks,

Mr Mitchem
